American rapper Melissa Arnette (Missy Elliott) released her 6th studio album "The Cookbok on 5 July 2005. Producers collaborated with her in the development of the album are: The Neptunes, Rhemario Webber, Timberland, Scott Storch, Saint Nick, Keith Lewis, Rich Harrison, Warryn Campbell, Craig Brockman, Bangladesh, Associates and The Avila Brothers.

When hip hop music artist Missy chosed the title of the album as "The Cookbook" she said that "My two records are not same, they have its own herbs and spices like each one is cooking up a hot recipe or song for an album". She said on the album cover that "I want that my listeners should think that I was improving my music back to the roots like my ancestors were cooking in somebody's kitchen or railroad tracks. I think that this isn't my best work, but I did a great job as never did on my previous albums".

Before releasing the album, she released three promotional single. First one is "Lost Control" which was on-aired on 27 May 2005. It's music video was directed by Dave Meyers. The song earned her a Grammy Award in the category of "Best Short Form Music Video". Second single was "Tearry Eyed" and third was "We Run This".
